First of all: The shading is AMAZING!!! It makes the whole picture look cozier and more realistic. That's what I also love so much about this drawing, its coziness trough the shading. I saw the un-shaded version and I must say, this drawing without shading is like Applejack without apples c;...Anyway when I look at the drawing I actually don't see anything negative... I'd say it's perfect, maybe it's just me but I love it ;33. Though Raritys tail and hoof bug me juust a bit. I mean where the tails starts (when I look at how she lays and where her tail starts.. It seems kinda unlogic) and where the hoof lays (the hoof is so far from her body)... This could've be done better BUT it doesn't matter though (; hmm.. what else... I reeally like her.. Mane by the way it is nicely shaped and shaded good. (sorry for that crappy little critique but... I just wanted to write one because this picture is like.. Really awesome) *Brohoof* /)
All I'm going to say is that I'd be happy critiquing your stuff and your stuff only for the rest of time if I had to! I can't get over how much I LOVE the way you do lighting! The colors of the show are so vibrant and beautiful, but then you add such depth with the mellowed/shadowed look. It adds such character to the picture as well as sets a desired mood. I like this picture because it just feels so, well, romantic without being overdone or making this a romance. It's, in a word, adorable! I find often with a Spike and Rarity picture that the "love" between them is forced and awkward; but not in this case. This is the best description of their "relationship" in my opinion. Well done!
*CUE RARITY SLOWLY WAKING UP* -Good morning beautiful, how was your night?Mine was wonderful with you by my side. *SHOVES SPIKE ASIDE N RUSHES TO THE BATHROOM MIRROR* -EXCUSE ME SPIKE,BUT I HAVE TO HAVE A SESSION OF BRUSHING MY HAIR BEFORE I AM TO BE SEEN BY ANYONE!
Judging by the way her mane and tail have been messed up, my immediate theory is that she was caught in a heavy downpour, and although Twilight was probably away in Canterlot or something, Spike was still at the library and allowed Rarity to stay there until the storm had passed.
I dunno why, but a sort of story came to my head when I first saw this. So Rarity's working on a really hard dress design and she strains her head, which gives her temporary amnesia. She stumbles out into the rain, scared and confused and knocks on the door of the closest place, the library. Twilight is in Canterlot visiting Princess Celestia and has left Spike alone. He answers the door to find a soaked, frightened Rarity. Something in Rarity's head sparks when she sees him and she knows that she used to know him, so she tells him what she's scared about and asks if she can stay the night. Spike knows that Twilight would be furious if her bed got wet, so he put some towels on his little bed so that Rarity could sleep there comfortably. He stays by her side all night, telling her things about herself so that she can remember. Rarity wakes in the morning with her memory fully restored, with the added memories of the night before. She realises just how much Spike loves her and she realised that the spark in her head was actually the memory of loving feelings for him. She looks by her side and sees Spike curled up in a ball on the floor. She strokes his spines and he wakes up quickly and looks at Rarity. She smiles at him and says, "Thank you." (Sorry for the long comment/story, I just love this picture!)
